Bullock’s Barrage Lifts Skyhawks over IPFW

Fort Wayne, IN- Senior guard Earl Bullock scored 21 second half points to lift UT-Martin over IPFW, 63-61, Saturday night at the Memorial Coliseum.

Included in Bullock’s 21 points were six three pointers.

IPFW continued to struggle with turnovers. The Mastodons gave up the ball 21 times in the game.

Even with the turnover problems, IPFW controlled most of the game. They lead until the 14-minute mark of the second half, when Bullock hit the third of his six treys.

UT-Martin led by as many as eight with just 3:50 left in the contest, but IPFW began to make a run. Freshman forward Pete Campbell (Muncie, IN) drilled a triple, and on the next possession, senior center David Simon (Vernon Hills, IL) scored and was fouled. He made the free-throw to cut the Skyhawk’s lead to two at 61-59.

But IPFW turned the ball over on the next trip down the floor, sealing their fate.

Simon was the game’s high scorer with 22 points. He also hauled down 14 rebounds for his second double-double since returning from knee surgery.

Campbell added 13 points (3-5 from behind the arc) and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Beau Bauer (Walton, IN) was the only other Mastodon in double figures with eleven.

Bullock led UT-Martin (3-4) with his 21 points. Jared Newson and Chris Carter added 14 and 10 respectively.

The Mastodons return to action next Saturday (12/18), traveling to Indianapolis, to take on Butler at 2pm.
