IPFW Basketball Gears up for MIDNIGHT MADNESS

Midnight Madness '02
Fort Wayne, IN—The IPFW men’s and women’s basketball teams will officially tip off the 2003-04 season, with Midnight Madness festivities Oct. 17th, at the Gates Center. Doors open to the public at 9:30pm.

Midnight Madness will include, a faculty/staff-media basketball game, the IPFW Pep Band "Stomp", The IPFW Cheerleaders and Dance Team, "Project Playground" from Nike Commercials, a student 3-point shooting and dunk contest, a Dick Vitale "Sound alike" contest, plus giveaways and prizes, courtesy of the Student Activities Board.

Of course, the event is the first time that the Mastodons will take to the court for the season, and at 12:01am, each team will be featured in ten minute intersquad scrimmages. Head men's coach Doug Noll, and Head women's coach Bruce Patterson, lead IPFW Basketball into its second full season in Division I.

There will also be an announcement concerning what IPFW Director of Athletics, Mark Pope describes as "The best promotional giveaway for college students that I have ever heard of!"

Admission for IPFW student, with valid ID, is free. Admission for others is a canned good item that will be donated to the United Way.

Don't forget, the Madness gets underway Friday, Oct. 17th at 9:30pm.
