Press Release NOVEMBER
13, 2003 Harlem Globetrotters Remain Undefeated Fort Wayne, IN- Michigan State, Syracuse, IPFW. Each have one thing in common, falling to the Harlem Globetrotters in exhibition action. The 'Trotters stormed in to Fort Wayne and left with their record unblemished with an 89-57 win. As good as their press clippings, the Globetrotters bolted out to an early lead on the strength of the inside play of Ron Rollerson and Anthony Miller. But, the Mastodons were still within striking distance at half-time (46-28). In the second half, IPFW was able to cut the Globetrotters lead to eleven, but that is when the red, white, and blue began to turn up the heat. Dunks by William Pippen and Miller, along with the play of Shannon Swillis quickly put the Globetrotters back up by twenty, and stopping the rally. IPFW got some solid performances from junior guard Terry Collins (Fort Wayne, IN) who filled it up for 25 points, and David Simon (Jr/C/Vernon Hills, IL) who tossed in 14. Miller led the Globetrotters with 12 points. Kris Bruton, Pippen, and Swillis each had ten. IPFW head coach Doug Noll was pleased with the effort of his team. "This is the toughest competion we will play all season," Noll said. "We are starting at the top of the mountain, and I like the way we competed." IPFW will be back in action on Monday night (11/17), taking on Marathon Oil, in their final exhibition game, at 7pm. ~Dons~ |
