Senior guard Brian Evans, of Texas A&M Corpus Christi, was chosen the Division-I Independent Player-of-the-year.

Evans started in all 26 games, averaging 12.4 points, 4.54 assists, connecting on 48.5 percent of his shots from the field and 71.8 percent of his free throws. He led the Islanders to their first-ever winning season, and single-season team records for wins (15) and road wins (5).
