Foul Shots Save Wright State

Dayton, OH- Wright State went to the foul line twenty-five times on Saturday night against the Mastodons. And, in the end it was two free throws that were the difference, as the Raiders came back to beat IPFW 66-64, at the Nutter Center.

IPFW controlled most of this one against Wright State. Getting a career night from senior Keion Henderson (F/Gary, IN), the ‘Dons opened up a three point halftime lead at 33-30. Henderson paced IPFW with eleven in the half.

In the second half, IPFW led by as many as nine, and had a six point lead with six minutes remaining.

But, the Raiders (13-11) would go to the foul line eleven times over those last six minutes to squeak by.

Henderson tossed in a career-high 23 points on 5 of 8 shooting from behind the arc.

David Simon (Jr/C/Vernon Hills, IN) recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Wright State featured four players in double figures, with guard Vernard Hollins’ 18 points leading the way.

IPFW (3-21), who attempted on 12 free throws in the game, returns home to the Memorial Coliseum Tuesday night (2/17) to host Florida Gulf Coast at 7pm.
