Mastodons Fall at IUPUI

Indianapolis, IN- The Mid-Con leading IUPUI Jaguars had little trouble with IPFW on Wednesday night, dropping the Mastodons to 3-20 on the season, with an 81-59 win.

The Jags used a stingy trap and deadly three-point shooting to open up a 14 point lead at the half (35-21). IUPUI (16-7) caused 10 turnovers in the opening half, which led to 13 points. The Jaguars also hit 6 of 8 from behind the arc.

In the second half, IUPUI shot a gaudy 64% from the field, and after opening up a 20-point lead at the 14:28 mark, they never looked back.

David Simon (Jr/C/Vernon Hills, IL), who registered his 10th double-double of the season with 22 points and ten rebounds, was the high-scorer for IPFW.

Senior forward Jim Kessenich (Pewaukee, WI) came off the bench for IPFW and also hit for a season-high 22 points.

Sharp-shooting IUPUI guard Akeem Clark tied Simon and Kessenich for game-high honors with 22 points.

The Mastodons return to action on Saturday night (2/14), traveling to Dayton, Ohio to take on Wright State at 7pm.
