2004 Mastodons Lose to Broncs by Two Fort Wayne, IN- Another close game at the Memorial Coliseum…another loss for the IPFW men’s basketball team. The Mastodons closed to within one, in the final three minutes Saturday, but eventually fell to the University of Texas-Pan American, 57-55. Trailing by six at half-time (28-21), IPFW fell behind by as many as 15 points in the second half, before going on a 13-3 run to cut the Broncs lead to 46-45. But, UTPA (9-13) ran off the next six points, and held on for the win. Junior center David Simon (Vernon Hills, IL) was the game’s high scorer with 20 points, to go along with his game high 15 rebounds. Freshman guard Beau Bauer (Walton, IN) added 12 points and seven boards. Guard Sergio Sanchez led the Broncs with 17 points, including three triples. Forward Chris Fagan registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. IPFW hits the road again, Wednesday night (2/11) to face the Mid-Con leading Jaguars of IUPUI at 7:30pm. ~Dons~ |
