21 , 2003 Miami, OH tops Mastodons West Lafayette, IN- A Purdue “hangover” and poor free-throw shooting sent the IPFW Mastodons to a 63-52 loss against Miami, OH on Sunday, in the consolation game of the 13th Annual Boilermaker Classic at Purdue University. After having played the 17th ranked Boilermakers tough yesterday, the ‘Dons came out flat, and the RedHawks took advantage. Josh Hausfeld scored 14 of his 16 points in the first-half, including four 3-pointers, as Miami, OH jumped out to a 42-25 lead at the break. In the second-half, the ‘Dons went on an 18-3 run, and after a Keion Henderson (Sr./F/Gary, IN) steal and slam, IPFW was back to within two at 45-43. But, over the next seven minutes, the RedHawks went on a 14-3 run of their own to put the game out of reach. David Simon (Jr/C/Vernon Hills, IL) was the game’s high-scorer with 22 points. Henderson just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Juby Johnson added 15 points for Miami, OH (3-7). For the game, IPFW shot only 58-percent from the foul-line (20-34). The Mastodons will get a few days off before traveling to Morgantown, West Virginia for a matchup with the Mountaineers out of the Big East Conference. Game time is 2pm.
