WSU Guard Tandem Shoots down Mastodons

Pullman, WA - The Washington State Cougars got a combined 30 points from guards Thomas Kelati and Marcus Moore, in sending the IPFW men's basketball team to their fourth consecutive loss, 66-46 Monday night at Beasley Coliseum.

The win was the 16th consecutive home opener for Washington State.

Kelati, a junior, led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Every shot he took was from behind the three-point line and he finished 6-10.

Moore, a senior, was the only other Cougar in double figures with twelve.

The Mastodons trailed by 13 at the half (35-22), and were never able to get into the ballgame in the second half.

One bright spot for the 'Dons was the play of junior forward Ric Wyand. Wyand had begun the year in a bit of a slump, but came out of it going 5-8 from the floor, for a team high total of 15 points. Wyand was 4-6 from three-point range.

Junior center David Simon got into some foul trouble, and was held to only nine points.

The win raises the WSU record to 3-1.

IPFW returns to action on Friday (12/5) taking on Iowa State in the first round of the Cyclone Challenge, in Ames, Iowa. The other matchup on Friday pits the University of Arkansas-Little Rock against Idaho State. Game time is 5pm.
