29, 2004 South Carolina "Mr. Basketball" Signs with IPFW Fort Wayne, IN- IPFW men’s basketball coach Doug Noll has announced the Mastodon’s recruiting class for the 2004-05 season. IPFW has inked two Junior College transfers, including the 2002 Mr. Basketball from South Carolina, Quintin Butler. Butler, from Emeralds High School, in Greenwood, South Carolina averaged 22 points and 14 rebounds. The 6’ 7” 210 lb. forward played at Wabash Valley Junior College (Illinois) the past two years, and averaged just under 10 pts. and nine rebounds a contest (9.8-8.5). He connected on 57-percent of his shots from the floor Also signing to play with the Royal and White is 6’ 0” guard Ryan Baumgartner of Muncie South. Baumgartner led Muncie South to a 2002 State Championship for his head coach father, Rick. He played one season at Miami, OH before transferring to Schoolcraft Community College (MI). At Schoolcraft, he was the team’s leading scorer, averaging 17.1 points per game, while dishing out 3.5 assists. He also drilled 93 three-pointers, and hit at a 45.6 percent clip from behind the arc. Schoolcraft ended the year with a mark of 27-4.
