5, 2005 Mastodons Fall in Simon's Finale Fort Wayne, IN– IPFW went cold in the second half, and Utah Valley State caught fire, as the Wolverines topped the Mastodons 76-66 on Senior Night at the Memorial Coliseum. IPFW, after leading by two at the half (33-31) went stone cold, hitting only 8 of 26 attempts in the second half, while UVSC hit on 51.7% of their shots (15-29). The loss ended the IPFW career of senior center David Simon, who finished with a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Ronnie Price led the Wolverines (16-12) with a game-high 24 points. You may just see both Simon and Price in the NBA next year. Freshman forward Pete Campbell added 12 points in the game, while sophomore guard Beau Bauer chipped in ten. IPFW finishes the season 7-22, 4-9 under interim head coach Joe Pechota. It was the first loss for IPFW, at home, since Pechota took over for Doug Noll.
