2004-05 Season:
Slowed by his second ACL injury in three years, Simon rebounded
to finish his short IPFW basketball career 4th on the school's
All-Time Scoring List, with 1,237 points. Simon is now IPFW's
All-Time leader in blocked shots for a career with 141. He
is also 3rd All-Time in Rebounds with 623. Named All-Independent
First Team for the second year in a row. Named to the ESPN
the Magazine/CoSIDA Region V Academic All-America Team. Hit
for double-figures in 25 of the 26 games he played. Scored
a season high 27 points vs. Northern Colorado on February 10th.
Followed that performance up with 26 points at Valparaiso two
games later (2/23/05).
2003-04
Season:
This
will be Simon's third season with the Mastodons, after
transferring from Loyola-Chicago. Named All-Independent
First-Team in 2003-04 season. Named by Lindy's College
Basketball Annual as “Pre-Season Independent Player of
the Year.” in 2004-05. David is an All-American Candidate.
Ranked by cbssportsline.com as the seventh best player
in the
Nation
in 2003-04, and second best center (only behind Emeka Okafor
of UConn.) Averaged 18 ppg/9.8 rpg and shot over 58% from
the field. Region V CoSIDA Academic All-American as a Chemistry
major. Was invited to the NBA prospects camp in the summer
of 2004.
2002-03
Season:
A breakout season for the big man, Simon averaged 10.6 points and 5.8 rebounds
a game…He averaged 23.1 minutes per game….Simon had a season/career high
of 15 rebounds against Wright State (2/22/03)…He scored a season high 26
points against Maine (02/25/03)…Scored in double figures in 17 games...Simon
shot 112-of-193 (.580) (6-of-6 against Butler) from the floor…At the charity
stripe he was 95-of-146 (.651)…During the 30 games he collected 39 blocks,
had 13 steals, 175 rebounds, and 21 assists.
2001-02
Season:
Served Residence Requirement/Ineligible for the 2001–02 season.
2000–01
Season:
Simon played volleyball for Loyola of Chicago.
Before
Coming to IPFW:
Simon averaged 13 points per game and eight rebounds during his senior
year at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. He was MVP of the team his senior
year and was selected as All-Conference, All-Area, and All-Lake County.
Simon’s high-point games during his senior year were 29 vs. Lake Forest
High School and 23 against North Chicago. He pulled down 19 rebounds vs.
Notre Dame High School.
