Men's Basketball gets Prep School Standout

Fort Wayne, IN– IPFW men's basketball has announced the signing of blue-chip recruit, guard Kyle Savely, for the 2005-06 basketball season.

Savely, a Floyds Knobs, Indiana native, was named First Team All-State by Hoosier Basketball Magazine in 2004, playing at Corydon Central. In his senior year with the Panthers, Savely averaged 26.4 points per game, 4.9 rebounds a contest, and 4.4 assists and 3.9 steals a game.

Savely was also named Mid Southern Conference Player of the year in 2003 and 2004. He led the Panthers to a Sectional Championship in '04, while being named tournament MVP.

His shooting percentages in '04 were outstanding, hitting 61% from the field, 34.5% from behind the arc, and 84.3% from the foul line. He finished his career as Corydon's All-Time leading scorer with 1,519 points.

With his size (6'0"/165) and shooting ability, Savely can either play the point or shooting guard positions.

Savely spent last season playing at Fork Union Military Academy. He will have four years of eligibility at IPFW.

"Kyle has been well coached and brings leadership, toughness, and a high basketball IQ to our program," IPFW head men's basketball coach Dane Fife said. "He is an Indiana kid and we're excited to have him at IPFW."

Savely was highly recruited out of high school by Navy, Army, and Colgate.
