Division I All-Independent Teams Announced

Greeley, CO– For the second consecutive season, IPFW senior center David Simon has been named to the Division I Men’s Basketball All-Independent First-Team, in voting conducted by independent coaches and sports information directors.

Simon (Vernon Hills, IL) completed the 2004-05 season averaging 16.6 points and nearly seven rebounds a game. Simon was also named Division I Independent Newcomer of the year in 2002-03.

The Mastodons also captured that honor this season. Freshman forward Pete Campbell (Muncie, IN) was tabbed Newcomer of the year. Campbell led IPFW in three-point shooting (65), and was second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game. “Soup” was a three-time All-Independent Player of the week selection during the 2004-05 campaign.

Sophomore guard Beau Bauer was given an Honorable Mention nod. Bauer (Walton, IN) was third in scoring for IPFW, averaging 10.4 points a contest.

Ronnie Price of Utah Valley State was named Player of the year. Price scorched the nets for 24.3 points a game. Ronnie Arrow of Texas A&M Corpus Christi was named Coach of the year. The Islanders finished the year with a record of 20-8.
