Advising Responsibilities
The Responsibility of Faculty Advisors
The chair appoints faculty advisors based on their interest in advising as well as their ability to advise effectively. The school recognizes that not all faculty are willing to advise and do so effectively.
Faculty advisors have the following responsibilities:

-
To work with the school office and the school advisors in keeping accurate record sheets.
-
To keep accurate records of academic advising in the student’s departmental file.
-
To understand both sides of the academic record sheet.
-
To advise the same student throughout the student’s academic career, if possible.
-
To attend such workshops as are provided by the school and/or department.
-
To seek advice from the lead advisor.
-
To communicate with the lead advisor and with other faculty advisors to improve the department’s advising effectiveness.
-
To provide information about academic advising in annual reports.
