Updates:
•Lobby Workshop. Geri Miller and Andy Downs reported on plans for a “How to Lobby” workshop to be held this spring. They are fixing dates and locations. We discussed issues of intended outcomes, audience, participants, and evaluation.

• Lugar Scholars: Andy Downs reported on progress in developing application details and fund-raising plans.

• Campus Audit. Members made suggestions for additions to Phase One of the Audit. Updated copies will be available at the next meeting.

• NYT project. Mike Mooney, NYT representative, joined the meeting and discussed the NYT proposal to provide copies Monday-Friday at a very reduced rate. Hannah will approach student government about sharing the cost. The project will begin January 12 for Spring semester.

Action Plan Objectives: We divided into “action teams” on each of the four goals areas (each representing a different dimension of civic education) to develop specific action steps/objectives. The four goal areas are:

• “Informed and Thoughtful”: Mike Wolf, convener

• “Moral and Civic Virtues”: Jim Lutz, convener

• “Community and Political Action”: Geri Miller/Andy Downs, conveners

• “Institutional Intentionality”: Susan Hannah, convener

Each group will report on their ideas at the January 20th meeting.
