| The American Democracy
Project (ADP) is a multi-campus initiative sponsored by the American Association
of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) that seeks to offer undergraduates
an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement in the
United States in the 21st Century. The goal of the project is to produce
graduates who understand and are committed to active participation as citizens
in a democracy. IPFW
was a charter member of the ADP, which now includes more than 170 institutions.
The IPFW Steering Committee held its first meeting in September of 2003.
The goal for the first year is to develop a campus understanding of civic
engagement and develop a two-year action plan to use the classroom, co-curricular
activities, and the campus culture to advance the goal of citizen education.
