Hometown: Born in Fort Wayne but lived in Muncie, IN for 10 years, basically through high school.

Major: Anthropology, I want to be the next Indiana Jones!...just kidding. What could be cooler than skeletons, mummies, and pyramids? Learning about ancient and current cultures is exciting.

Minors: History. You have to know about countries and their histories to truly understand the cultures that evolved to be a good anthropologist.

Biology. Having a background in Biology will help a person to understand the biological side of studying cultures. Also it is nice to know the plants and animals an anthropologist will run into when they are in foreign countries. Also the experiments are fun and interesting.

Lives: IPFW Student Housing. It’s cheaper than a regular apartment and I only have to make one monthly payment for everything. Also accounting is not my forte.

Works: I work for the IPFW Admissions office as a Student Admissions Representative, STAR.  I also work at Glenbrook Mall. Both jobs are fun, allow flexible schedules, and supplement my income.

Best place to study: The 24 hr lab on the 1st floor of Helmke Library.  You can study and surf the Internet 24 hours a day.  Even on holidays! They also have coffee machines and snack machines so you don’t even have to leave during a long study session.

Best place to hangout: Glenbrook Mall because I am a shopaholic.  I also spend lots of time listening to cd’s at FYE. I also like Piere’s  Entertainment Center/Bar. They have tons of concerts there.  I have seen everyone from Drowning Pool, Collective Soul, Trapt, Anthrax, Seether, and many more.

Best place/event on campus: The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the basement of Walb Student Union.  They did a shadow cast.  Rice, squirt guns, rubber gloves, and men in women’s lingerie made for a very entertaining Halloween.

Best place/event off campus: Piere’s Entertainment Center. Sorry, its 21 years and older only. This place is great. I go there a couple times a month to see concerts.

Best class so far: I love my Anthropology and Biology classes. My least favorite moment was dissecting a baby pig for Bio 100. I found out I have to do it again for Bio 119. At least I will be an expert!

Best thing to eat off campus: De Brand’s Chocolate at Jefferson Point. They also have a store on Coldwater Rd. Buy the Key Lime Pie Truffle. So good!

Best reason to stay up until 2 am: Rock Concerts at Pierre’s with the obligatory stop at the Taco Bell on the corner. MTV and VH1 actually play music videos at 2am. No Laguna Beach  Wooooohooooo!!

Best thing about being a student here:  Meeting all types of people. You get two universities in one place. You can choose a degree from Purdue or Indiana University.

Best thing about the city of Fort Wayne: You are less than three hours away from Indianapolis, Chicago, and Detroit. We have a huge mall, tons of restaurants and movie theaters, and there is always something to do. You will never be bored.  Maybe strapped for cash though!!

Why you should pick IPFW: You should pick IPFW because it is a great school and reasonably priced. The teachers are very helpful and there are many services that help students make their college experience less stressful and more fun.

Best advice for getting the most out of college: Pick a major that you really enjoy. Do not pick one just because you can make a lot of money. You will not get as much out of the college experience if you hate your classes. We are talking about the rest of your life. Don’t you want to work and have fun at the same time?

Also showing up for all of your classes is very important. Going to class and paying attention goes a long way towards getting straight A’s.

Organizations, intramurals, sports, hobbies, etc. you’re involved in: I participate in Anthropology lectures/discussions. I love going to concerts. I am also an Army veteran. I cook almost everyday.
