Biography

Bruce Novak received his MS degree in Business Administration and BS degree in Business with distinction from Indiana University. While at IU, he was elected to Sigma Iota Epsilon and Beta Gamma Sigma, scholastic honoraries for high academic achievement.

Bruce has been an adjunct at IPFW since 2001 teaching Introductory Financial and Managerial Accounting for IPFW. He as taught as an adjunct over 140 accounting, finance, and business classes for seven colleges and universities, including Indiana University South Bend. At IUSB he taught for 19 years before moving to Fort Wayne. He has teaching experience in traditional undergraduate, accelerated, evening adult, weekend, junior college and MBA programs.

Bruce has extensive Industry experience as Controller, Corporate Controller, and Vice President of Finance with manufacturing companies including major US corporations such as the Marmon Group, Masco Industries and the Strick Corporation. In Industry, he had responsibility for Accounting and Finance functions, IT, Risk Management, Banking, and Human Resources. Industry experience includes Recreational Vehicles, Metal Office Furniture, Farm and Capital Equipment, Heavy Machining, Steel Fabricating, and Semi-Trailers.

This real world experience is used in the classroom, which has led to his classes being well received by students.

Community

He has also done consulting in business in the areas of financial systems, cost accounting, mergers and acquisitions and has served as instructor for several management seminars. He has served as a speaker at Kiwanis and Rotary service club functions.

Bruce is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and has passed the PHR certification test.

When not teaching or working in business, Bruce’s hobbies include golf and studying the American Civil War.
